Wine-Searcher reports that growers in Collioure, Banyuls and Banyuls Grand Cru are considering relocating vineyards as climate change, difficult hillside viticulture and poor economics threaten the viability of existing sites. The growers’ syndicate has commissioned detailed climate and soil studies to identify which land could remain suitable for vines by 2050, with around 500 to 1,000 hectares outside current appellation boundaries potentially suitable, while the syndicate says roughly a third of current production is being sold at a loss.
