Vinetur reports that fine wine merchants continued to reduce prices during the third quarter of 2026, according to new research from Wine Labs covering approximately 1,300 merchants. Price reductions represented 54% of recorded price changes, with a typical discount of 9.5%. Merchants sold an average of 1.3% of their fine wine inventory each week, with Champagne performing best at 1.7%, while Australian wines recorded the slowest turnover at 0.6%. UK merchants were particularly active in reducing prices, with 61.7% of price changes being cuts. The findings suggest that retailers remain under pressure to clear stock and stimulate demand, although the research covers only six complete weeks of the quarter.
