Italian Wine Survey Finds Taste and Origin More Important Than Packaging

Dionysus reports that a consumer survey featured in CREA’s latest CreAgritrend bulletin found that 94.4% of the 1,038 Italian respondents consumed wine at least occasionally, while 56.5% drank wine weekly or more frequently. The survey, conducted in 2024, revealed marked differences between age groups, with older consumers more likely to drink wine regularly and at home. Taste was the leading purchasing consideration, cited as important by 82% of respondents, followed by denomination of origin at 73.7% and price at 71.1%. Although most routine purchases were concentrated between €4 and €15, approximately 41% said they would consider spending more than €20 on a bottle.
