ADVFN has published a regulatory announcement revealing that English wine producer Chapel Down plans to raise up to £6 million to expand sparkling wine production at its Tenterden winery in Kent. Approximately £4.5 million would fund new grape-pressing equipment, automation and infrastructure, allowing the company to redirect around 300,000 bottles of annual production towards higher-margin traditional-method sparkling wine. The facility is expected to become operational for the 2027 harvest, with additional wines reaching the market from 2030. Chapel Down also reported a 2026 harvest of 2,706 tonnes, down from 2,882 tonnes in 2025, partly reflecting spring frost damage. The investment forms part of its ambition to sell approximately 2.5 million bottles of traditional-method sparkling wine annually by 2033.
